John S. Kittrell, DDS
Dr. John S. Kittrell has been taking care of Richmonders and their dental needs for over three decades. He received his undergraduate degree from VCU and is a graduate of the VCU/MCV School of Dentistry.
As past president of the Richmond Dental Society, the Commonwealth Dental Academy Study Club, Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Fellow of the Virginia Dental Association, Dr. Kittrell is actively involved in the region’s health care community and focuses on staying up-to-date with the latest dental techniques and technology. Giving back to the community is also very important to Dr. Kittrell, who donates his services through the Missions of Mercy (MOM) projects and Donated Dental Services.
Dr. Kittrell has lived in the Fan since opening his private, family and cosmetic dentistry practice on Grove Avenue and N. Robinson Street in 1982. He’s been married to his wife, Kathy, for 39 years. Dr. Kittrell enjoys spending time with Kathy and his adult sons, Matthew and Stephen, and daughter-in-law Shannon. In his free time, he loves to catch tuna and fish in the Outer Banks and Chesapeake Bay.
Shannon A. Kittrell, DDS
Dr. Shannon Kittrell started working in dentistry as a dental assistant during her summer breaks from undergraduate education. Her love for the profession grew as she found it was an incredibly rewarding avenue for her natural talent in artistic hand skill. Soon after Dr. Kittrell completed her B.S. in biology and M.S. in biochemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University, she achieved doctor of dental surgery at VCU School of Dentistry. Go RAMS!
Dr. Kittrell is passionate about providing excellent dental care in a comfortable atmosphere and enjoys working with children and families. Dr. Kittrell is an active member of the American Dental Association. She emphasizes on providing the profession’s leading dental care procedures, while utilizing the most current evidence based dental technologies.
Dr. Kittrell moved frequently throughout her childhood as her father was a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. She now resides in the North side of Richmond with her husband, Stephen, and their two dogs, Corbin and Abigail. In her spare time, Dr. Kittrell enjoys outdoor activities; especially fly fishing, rafting, and relaxing at the James River.
Shari L. Ball, DDS
Dr. Shari Ball has practiced dentistry since 1990.
Before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, Dr. Ball graduated from Old Dominion University School of Dental Hygiene. She also completed a General Practice Dental Residency at MCV School of Dentistry. She is actively involved in the dental community as a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Richmond Dental Society.
To give back to the community, she volunteers at her church, in her children's schools, and with the American Heart Association. She is also on the board of directors of her neighborhood association.
During her free time, she enjoys gardening and cooking.
Laura Byrne, DDS
Dr. Laura Byrne is a 3rd generation dentist from Staunton, VA. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2000 with a B.S. in Business and Computer Science. After working in New York City for 3 years she decided to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Byrne graduated from the VCU School of Dentistry and completed an elective residency at VCU’s School of Dentistry Advanced Education in General Dentistry. During that year of advanced study, she focused on comprehensive cosmetic and implant restorative dentistry. She has been in private practice continuously since graduation.
Dr. Byrne and her husband Michael, a Urologist at Virginia Urology, live in Richmond with their 3 daughters Bridget, Gina, and Frances. When she is not hanging out with her children or cleaning up the most recent glitter disaster, she enjoys exploring new restaurants with her husband and rooting for the Hoo’s during March Madness.
Shannon Davis McCabe
Shannon has been a practicing Dental Hygienist since 2009. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 2004-2007 where she pursued an undergraduate study for dental hygiene and received a bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University in 2009. Shannon is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and has a true passion for her profession. She enjoys helping others have confidence in their oral health.
Originally from Prince George, Virginia, Shannon resides in Colonial Heights with her husband, Mike, her two step-daughters, Riley and Taylor, her newborn son, Knox and several “fur babies.” She enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends as much as possible!
Keria has been a Dental Assistant for five years. Originally from Richmond, she graduated from Centura College in 2015. She is currently attending John Tyler Community College and plans to transfer to VCU School of Dentistry. She is studying to be a dentist and her passion for dentistry is to make every patient feel comfortable.
Keria enjoys studying in school, exercising and reading books. She believes nothing is more important than wearing your smile!
Paula has been in the dental field for almost 30 years. She is prided with her dental insurance experience. Paula loves working with patients and helping them be knowledgeable regarding their treatment and how their insurance will work best for them.
Paula lives in Chester with her husband of 35 years. She is the proud mother of 3 grown sons and 3 adorable grandchildren.
In her spare time, Paula is a Certified Wedding Coordinator and Floral Designer. She loves the "Rivah," spending time with her family and the Outer Banks.
