A Great Dentist

Technology

Dental technology continues to make great strides, and we enjoy bringing technology into our practice to make the patient experience that much more pleasant.

We take advantage of the following cutting-edge technologies to ensure our patients are comfortable—and healthy.

Digital Radiographs

Not only are digital x-rays quicker than traditional x-rays, but they are also safer because they have less radiation. We can also easily enhance images so that more detail can be seen and images can be viewed immediately. Digital x-rays are also easy to email to specialists and insurance companies.

Intraoral Camera

Digital radiographs are valuable when it comes to seeing what isn’t visible to the naked eye, but intraoral cameras go beyond what can be seen on a radiograph. These tiny cameras, which are the size of a dental mirror, provide enough light so your dentist can see every part of your mouth.

Intraoral cameras make it possible to see the smallest fractures in teeth as well as cavities in their earliest stages. Plaque deposits, excessive wear on the teeth, and fillings that are old and worn out can also be spotted with this amazing tool.

Velscope

When you come in for an examination, we will look for signs of oral cancer visually. In addition, we will check your x-rays for tumors and other issues that are not yet visible to the naked eye.

A device called a Velscope is a powerful way for us to check for oral irregularities. It uses abnormal fluorescent patterns to reveal problems in their earliest stages.

VirtuOx Screening

Sleep apnea is a potentially dangerous disorder that affects the lives of many people. When you come in for an examination, we will ask you a series of questions. Depending on the answers to these questions, we may recommend further screening to find out whether you are suffering from sleep apnea.

In the past, you might have been required to spend a night in a sleep lab to diagnose sleep apnea. But with the VirtuOx screening kit, you can take a home sleep test. It is delivered right to your door with full instructions as well as a tech support number you can access day or night.

Rather than have to try to sleep in a laboratory, hooked up to numerous electrodes with observers in the next room, you can sleep in the comfort of your own bed. All you will have to do is put a sensor on your finger and nose, and place a small device on a belt around your chest.

In the morning, drop everything into the mailbox, and your doctor will receive a full report within a few days. The VirtuOx will be able to tell if you are experiencing sleep apnea, and you won’t have to spend an uncomfortable night in a sleep lab for the diagnosis.
